MA’s Playhouse artistic associate R’kardo St Von will be belting out his cool jazz tones when he opens for Tesanne Chin in the Tobago Jazz Experience 2014. \u00a0R’kardo who was showcased in MA’s Playhouse “Nostalgia: Memories of a Topical Past” and more recently, “A Tribute to the Masters, A Kaiso Jazz Experience”, \u00a0grew up in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.<\/p>\n
His passion for music and performance was developed by an eclectic exposure to different genres from the early age of 8. R’kardo holds a\u00a0BA in Theatre Arts from New York\u2019s Marymount Manhattan College, jazz performance and musical theatre training from New York\u2019s Musical Theatre Works Tony nominated director Lonny Price, and work with original \u2018Rent\u2019 alumni, actress\/ singer Fredi Walker-Browne.<\/p>\n
The festival which grows in popularity with each new year serves as a platform for the Division of Tourism for Tobago \u00a0to showcase the island’s \u00a0musical, gastronomical and cultural endeavors. It has featured the likes of Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae and Trey Songz to name a few. R’kardo will join the ranks of these notable songsters and leave his own indelible part.
